We are a community of lay people dedicated to living the message of God's healing mercy through works of mercy.
We recognize healing prayer as an expression of the deepest need of our human souls. Because we have experienced God's healing and transforming presence in our lives, we are dedicated to praying with others for healing.
We are devoted to providing a listening, caring, discerning, and companioning ministry to those who come seeking.
The Mercy of God Prayer Center, Inc. has been serving in the Catholic Diocese of Austin, Texas since 1981. We are a Lay Catholic Evangelization and Healing Ministry, one of eleven Centers known as the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, International. Four Centers are located in the United States, five in Mexico, one in Costa Rica, and one in Spain. The Founding Apostolic Director is Rev. James Wheeler, S.J. of the New York Province of Jesuits, USA. The Centers were founded by Fr. Wheeler in 1972.
In addition to the English-speaking Mercy of God Prayer Center, also serving the
greater Austin area is a Spanish-speaking center - the
Centro Oracion Misericordia de Dios.
The healing ministry focuses on walking in love with those in crisis or those in need of a listening ear. We are simply "wounded healers" well aware that we cannot "fix people." We simply take the hand of another, bring them to the holy place within where Jesus, the Healer, can apply the healing balm to their hurts, and they can experience God's tremendous mercy. It is our joy to see much healing and many conversions. Significant numbers are ministered to on an appointment basis or in our programs by facilitators.
